Model Emily Ratajkowski defends Melania Trump over 'slut shaming' claims

Melania Trump thanked Emily Ratajkowski for defending her after the model claimed a New York Times reporter called the First Lady a "hooker."

The model said she was attending a party in NY the previous night when Bernstein "told me 'Melania is a hooker'". Ratajkowski-who, herself, has been the victim of slut-shaming on numerous occasions-took to Twitter on Monday to call out the reporter, Yahoo! reports, calling his attack "disgusting sexist bullshit".

The journalist has not been named, but they do not cover Washington or politics, Ms Murphy said.

Melania Trump has been busy, doing more than raising her 10-year-old son Barron in Trump Tower or suing a publication that she says ruined her chances of earning millions of dollars as first lady by publishing the false allegation that she once worked as an escort. "Editors have talked to the reporter in question about the lapse", reports WWD.

The comment came to light after actress Emily Ratajkowski tweeted Monday that a Times journalist told her "Melania is a hooker".

That reporter - Jacob Bernstein - took to Twitter himself today to apologize.

Bernstein said he was at a party and in "what I thought was a personal conversation".

"She also added the hashtag, "#PowerOfTheFirstLady".

He said his editors made it clear that this was not in keeping with Times standards, "and I agree". "My mistake, referring to unfounded rumours, shouldn't reflect on anyone else and I apologise profusely", he wrote. Trump is now in the midst of a lawsuit with Daily Mail, after the publication ran an article that included the unsubstantiated claim that she was once a "high-end escort".

The first lady is seeking damages of $150m (£120m).

Ratajkowski, star of "Gone Girl", backed Bernie Sanders in the presidential race.
