UAE Plans To Build First City On Mars By 2117

Russia Working Closely on Mars Exploration Earth Monitoring Satellite Projects

Mars 2117 isn't just a dream for the UAE.

Two things stood out immediately about the plan: First, it has a reasonable timeline, compared to SpaceX's hyper-ambitious 2023 launch goal (though Musk conceded in his presentation that a feasible timetable for colonization would be between 40 and 100 years).

United Arab Emirates (UAE) recently announced an ambitious endeavour to create human settlement with liveable environments on Mars within the next 100 years, USA Today reported.

The project of city of happiness will include a team of emirates and worldwide scientists.

The announcement was made on the sidelines of the World Government Summit in the presence of representatives of 138 governments, six major worldwide organisations, as well as leading global tech companies.

The UAE will plan to prepare national cadres that can achieve scientific breakthroughs to enable the transport of people to Mars over the next decades.

The project aims to boost UAE's space research capacity and make it a top player among the countries intending to colonise Mars.

Within the plan is a concept for the first human city on Mars, which will be constructed by robots before human colonists arrive.

Experts say that success of the city on Mars is yet can't be predicted, but it would make a good progress in space science. He said on Tuesday, "The landing of people on other planets has been a longtime dream for humans". Furthermore, the project will also try to develop faster transportation methods for travelling to and from Mars. The project will start with an Emiratis scientific team and will be extended to include worldwide scientists and researchers, in addition to streamline the human efforts in term of exploring and settlement of the [Red Planet]. "The successful launch of the nanosatellite, Nayif-1, is a significant stride in our journey towards the sustainable development of the UAE space sector", said Yousuf Al Shaibani, director general of MBRSC.

The Arab nation is not new to space exploration.

Bin Zayed added that he wanted to maintain an worldwide focus on the shared human goal of space exploration.

The UAE announced its Mars Probe mission in 2015.

Since 1960s, NASA has sent 21 missions to Mars and only six of them have succeeded, but none with human life onboard.
