Pakistan bars corruption-accused cricketers from leaving the country

FIA wants players on ECL

The interior minister further ordered the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority to crack down on gambling websites in order to discourage and end spot fixing in cricket games.

After suspending five cricketers from playing cricket, the PCB is investigating a few more. Khalid Latif and Mohammad Irfan were asked questions regarding spot-fixing and contacts with bookies.

Nasir Jamshed was also summoned, but he could not show up because he is out of country.

The Pakistan Cricket Board has provisionally suspended 5 cricketers - Sharjeel Khan, Khalid Latif, Mohammad Irfan, Shahzaib Hasan and Nasir Jamshed from participating in any form of cricket match after violating anti-corruption code during the second edition of the Pakistan Super League. Jamshed had been arrested in the United Kingdom as part of the PSL corruption case but was released on bail.

The four cricketers will record their statements in the case at FIA office located at Lahore.

Federal Interior Minister Chaudhary Nisar has approved the FIA request to include names of cricketers allegedly involved in PSL spot fixing in the Exit Control List (ECL), reported Waqt News.

The PCB had formed a three-member tribunal headed by justice Asghar Haider (retired), and including former PCB chairman Tauqir Zia and former wicketkeeper Wasim Bari to hear the cases of Sharjeel and Latif, who had contested some of the charges against them.

Last week, the cricket board provisionally suspended Irfan and Shahzaib and gave them two weeks to respond to the charges.
