Face Recognition Tech Still Insufficient for Security

Samsung's Galaxy S8 Gets Jump On Apple iPhone 8

"The S8 is a unquestionably a strong product but Samsung must now deliver a faultless launch to move on from its earlier difficulties". And while Samsung and Qualcomm did an awesome job at building brand new chips that are more powerful and more energy-efficient than ever, iPhones still mop the floor with the Galaxy S8 when it comes to the most important area of performance.

The Galaxy S8 and its big brother were revealed last week, and customers in selected markets can already pre-order the flagships. However, this version of the Galaxy S8 will only be available via Microsoft's brick and mortar stores in the United States. The basic edition of the S8 will ship with Word, Excel and several other Office apps installed. If you check out the clip, you can see that the owner's picture being placed in front of the flagship will be sufficient to unlock the phone. It's able to achieve this by scanning 200 points of an iris during setup. In other words you will get the same camera as Galaxy S7, which is great, but Samsung could at least considered the dual lens option.

Samsung with its Galaxy S8s has pulled off something called the Infinity display which is basically more screen at the same size.

The S8 is also home to Bixby, Samsung's virtual assistant that's a new rival for Apple's Siri. Both the phones have a 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage on board.

According to an unnamed industry source was speaking to The Korea Herald, the S8's facial tracking tech is not secure enough to be used to protect your phone. It was also found out that the software only works with Samsung phones running Android 7.0 Nougat. For the Galaxy Note 7, Samsung allowed its suppliers to do the testing, but in an effort to prevent a repeat, it's largely handling testing itself. But a video released Wednesday shows it may not be as safe as you'd hope.
