Manchester United take on Anderlecht in the Europa League quarter-finals

Heading into the Europa League quarter-final second leg at Old Trafford the hosts were the overwhelming favourites to progress.

The France worldwide has failed to build on a hugely promising first season with United and has made only 12 starts in the Premier League since Mourinho replaced Louis van Gaal as manager.

Marcus Rashford has become one of Manchester United's most important players, believes former midfielder Paul Scholes. "I would not like to say until we do the tests, but overall.fairly negative".

"I have to go in the direction of the players, but they also have to go in my direction".

Mourinho's United now sit fifth in the Premier League on 60 points, with seven games still to play, with a game in hand over fourth-placed Manchester City.

"I think that when you get a chance to come to a club like United, even knowing there's a chance you might be second choice, it's a chance you want to take", Romero told a pre-match news conference. "The same way I have to go in the direction of the players, the players they have also to come in my direction". "I am happy and I think it is the right attitude", he explained. Yes I think. Do I think he can be successful for me?

"I am very thankful to him (Mourinho)".

Here is how the duo compare in this season's Europa League... Henrikh Mkhitaryan scored a crucial away goal 10 minutes before the break at the Constant Vanden Stock Stadium, netting from an acute angle to put United ahead, but Leander Dendoncker's powerful header four minutes from time means the tie is still alive ahead of the return game at Old Trafford.

"His experience, his know-how of this knock-out phase - I think he's a player that can be useful tomorrow".

Zlatan Ibrahimovic may start after spending the first 83 minutes of Sunday's 2-0 home win against Chelsea on the bench. "He can help us". If we need to keep control of the game by having possession, he can help us too. After the hefty dispatch of Premier League leaders Chelsea, Jose Mourinho resumed his carrot and stick approach to coaching, unleashing the latter on his pet hate, strikers with attitude, or rather the wrong attitude as he sees it.

Wayne Rooney is still capable of playing a part in Manchester United's bid to conquer the Europa League.

"I never like to do that complete separation", the manager admitted to the gathered press. I can not say every match is for one or the other.

"The reality is that Sergio is very stable and very experienced".
