N. Korea starts celebrating birthday of country's founder

The US May Strike North Korea If Kim Jong-Un Launches A Nuclear Test & It Could Come As Early As This Weekend

The country's hereditary leader Kim Jong-un, wearing a black suit and white shirt and a tie, welcomed his country's bravest as he addressed thousands of soldiers who took part in the parade honoring his grandfather.

Other senior officials joining Kim at the parade podium included Kim Won Hong, who the South Korean government had said earlier this year was sacked from his job as state security minister, presumably over corruption.

The Day of the Sun is a public holiday usually marked by grand military parades, mass celebrations and other large displays of national pride.

The display included submarine-launched ballistic missiles, believed to be the same type of missile North Korea fired from land in February.

"We are sending an armada. If not, we will solve the problem without them", he wrote.

Kim, the analyst, said it's likely that North Korea is also developing solid-fuel ICBMs, and that some of the rockets inside the canisters on Saturday might have been prototypes.

Military specialists keep a close eye on Pyongyang's parades for clues about developments in its capabilities. And on his left, the economic policy, bringing North Korea into the modern world.

"However, North Korea has a habit of showing off new concepts in parades before they ever test or launch them", Ms Hanham said.

The parade comes amid rising tensions between North Korea and the rest of the world, after a week-long series of spats directed toward the U.S., and a looming possibility of the nation's sixth nuclear test.

Fears over the North's rogue weapons programme have soared in recent days, with a United States naval strike force deployed near the Korean peninsula, while President Donald Trump has warned the threat "will be taken care of" and Pyongyang has vowed a "merciless" response to any provocation.

Recently North Korea condemned the USA strike on a Syrian airfield as "an unforgivable act of aggression" and justified its nuclear weapons developments as "the right choice a million times over" because of it.

"Our toughest counteraction against the USA and its vassal forces will be taken in such a merciless manner as not to allow the aggressors to survive", it added.

It wanted to send "a tough message to the United States in response to the Trump administration's recent rhetoric and the military steps the United States has taken", said Evans Revere of the Brookings Institution in Washington.

Analysts warn that even failed missile launches provide valuable knowledge into North Korea as it tries to build its weapons program.

The countries were on the brink of war when then-President Bill Clinton reached a deal with Kim's father, Kim Jong Il, in 1994. USA vice-president Mike Pence travels to South Korea on Sunday on a long-planned 10-day trip to Asia.

US President Donald Trump held talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping at his Mar-a-Lago resort last Friday to push his case for China to do more to rein in North Korea's nuclear ambitions. The country's Foreign Minister Wang Yi said, "We call on all parties to refrain from provoking and threatening each other, whether in words or actions".
