Patriots respond to comparison photo showing team with Obama versus Trump

Devin Nunes worked with Trump administration to create a fake scandal about Susan Rice report

The New York Times set this one off with a tweet of two photos, one showing the New England Patriots visiting Trump at the White House on Wednesday and another showing them visiting President Obama in 2015.

It is traditional for USA championship sports teams in any sport to meet and greet the president (whoever that might be at the time) at the White House.

There is some speculation that Tom Brady bailed on the White House visit - perhaps prompted by wife and Trump foe Giselle Bundchen - because he wants to avoid any backlash in celebrity circles where President Trump is very unpopular, even though the president regularly mixed with celebrities during his long, pre-politics career in the media spotlight.

The photos showed an apparent discrepancy in turnout for the two visits, the first of which came during President Barack Obama's tenure. Facts: In 2015, over 40 football staff were on the stairs. "In 2017, they were seated on the South Lawn", the team said on its Twitter account. For starters, the 2015 pictures shows the team's staff on the stairs.

Trump previously took aim at the National Park Service for tweeting out aerial images comparing the crowd size at his January inauguration to that of Obama's 2009 swearing-in ceremony.

The team's Twitter account also tweeted another picture from Wednesday that showed people posing for a photo on the steps, and upper balcony, of the White House. He said almost 50 players attended the event in 2015 when Obama hosted.

A reported 34 members of the Patriots visited the Trump White House on Wednesday in celebration of winning Super Bowl 51.

Of course, Trump himself also blasted the New York Times.

The Times added an update on its Twitter feed Wednesday night saying: "Patriots say # of players was smaller this year than 2015 (34 vs. 50) but total delegation was roughly the same".
