The Trumps host their first White House Easter Egg Roll

Handy hint Melania prompts Trump on national anthem protocol as Twitter implodes

Trump's wife, Melania, and their son, Barron, 11, and the Easter Bunny joined him on a balcony overlooking the expansive lawn before they went downstairs to join some of the 21,000 people who were expected to attend what is the biggest social event every year at the White House. It's just that at the time of the National Anthem, Melania didn't know which hand she should use to put on heart while Donald preferred not to do it for quite some time.

Apparently the crowd was smaller than in past years, but that was apparently largely due to the shortage of White House staff to host the event, positions the Trumps have yet to fill.

The new-ish First Lady broke from tradition by deciding to stay at Trump Towers in NY to allow their son Barron to finish his school year. While Obama, an avid reader, relished in reading classics like Where the Wild Things Are during his tenure, Mr Trump delegated the task of reading to his wife Melania, Mr Spicer, and Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

Melania and Barron, who traveled to Washington from NY - where they are living until the 10-year-old finishes the school year - appeared with Trump, accompanied by a human-sized white Easter rabbit, on the Truman Balcony to address the invited guests.

In the footage, the USA president signs the red cap with a black marker before throwing it into a swarm of supporters. You see what's happening, and we are right on track. Trump, the first lady, and Barron joined kids to color cards to send to United States service members.

'She worked really hard on this.

White House press secretary Sean Spicer posed with the Easter Bunny at the annual White House Easter Egg Roll on Monday - and it provided a glimpse into "the good ole days" of his own past at the event.

Trump thanked his wife for "working on this for a long time to make it flawless".
