West Ham striker Andy Carroll to miss Everton game

Sunderland's Fabio Borini celebrates scoring their second goal

Carroll's attempt at a volley fell fortunately into the path of Andre Ayew, who stole in to open the scoring but in making the action, the West Ham forward strained his abductor.

The Hammers were in serious danger of being dragged into a fight for survival but a welcome 1-0 win over Swansea City, followed by a 2-2 draw with Sunderland last time out, has all-but secured their top flight status.

"We can talk about a mis-kick or an assist for Andre's goal but he said at that moment he felt it".

Reports this week claimed that Bilic was involved in a bust-up with Sakho prior to the fixture with the Black Cats over the striker's refusal to be a substitute, but the manager claimed those rumours are untrue.

West Ham boss Slaven Bilic refused to rule out a summer move for John Terry.

He said: "He was injured, he is supposed to train today, then we will see".

West Ham will need Reid to perform at his level best at the London Stadium if they are to have any hope of containing Everton's Romelu Lukaku.

The former England captain, 36, is ending his 19-year, trophy-laden career at Chelsea in the summer.

"He had a little injury last weekend so he wasn't available against Sunderland but there was no row with him", said Bilic.

He said: "We are going to see, I'm a big admirer of John, he is one of the best that ever played, not only in that position but in general".

The Hammers are now 13th in the table, a full 20 points behind the Toffees with five matches remaining, but while this season looks to be petering out with little left to play for, Slaven Bilic will still want to see some fire in the weeks ahead.

"He's won everything, done everything, we are talking about the England captain, a good leader and all that but we are pretty well covered in that position. You never say never".

"We are going to see if he is ready to start but he has been in training this week".
