Adviser responds to claim Conway's in it 'for the money'

On Tuesday, however, Conway publicly responded the comments that Morning Joe duo made the day before in a statement posted to her Twitter account.

Conway, who in August became Trump's third - and final - campaign manager, allegedly spoke far differently about Trump when the cameras were switched off, "Morning Joe" cohosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski claimed on Monday.

The allegations against Kellyanne Conway, 50, have been made by the hosts of US TV show Morning Joe, engaged couple Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzenzinski.

The two also said that Conway only viewed her job as a "vacation".

To that, Conway retorted, "The notion that I am serving for "the money" or a "paycheck" is absurd".

Also said, very interesting, she also said, 'This is just, like, my summer in Europe. This is like my vacay - I'm just doing it for the money. The rest of me thinks that she's so deeply in it that she will never, ever be able to extricate herself.

According to Scarborough, Conway referred to her time working for Trump as a temporary affair, something she would have to get past.

If there is merit to Conway's response, it can only be in regards to Brzezinski's specific claim that she was "in it for the money". That's the exact quote, actually, that Scarborough said that she said.

Honestly, that sentiment might be more damning than Scarborough and Brzezinski's claim that she's a cynical, dead-eyed mercenary. He's just my client. Kellyanne Conway, the first female campaign manager to win a presidential election, knows firsthand what it's like to take the heat for an explosive candidate and have her motivations questioned on the national stage.

In March, Brzezinski was featured in an interview with Variety, where she doubled down on her remarks about banning Conway from the show and urged other media outlets to follow suit. Maybe she is unhappy with Donald Trump.

Calling her the "unsung architect of Trumpism", the Atlantic's Molly Ball detailed how she was not just a television personality or spin artist or generic GOP strategist, but "a principal architect of the theory behind Trump's winning campaign".
