Bobby Moynihan leaving 'Saturday Night Live' for CBS sitcom

Bobby Moynihan leaving 'Saturday Night Live' for CBS sitcom

Moynihan is the second-longest tenured member of the "SNL" cast behind Keenan Thompson.

Bobby's exit isn't that surprising after it was announced earlier this week that his new show Me, Myself, & I has been picked up for a full season on CBS.

His departure brings an end to a long nine-year run on the show and marks a loss of one of "Saturday Night Live's" most seasoned veterans.

According to Deadline, which first reported the news, Moynihan signed a two-year extension after his original seven-year deal expired.

According to Deadline, Moynihan chose to leave after his sitcom Me, Myself, And I was picked up by CBS for a fall spot.

Moynihan joked about his complicated schedule at Wednesday's CBS upfront presentation, explaining that he had to get back to rehearsals because "you do not want to keep the Rock waiting".

Beyond characters like the blubbering "Drunk Uncle", Moynihan regularly parodied Chris Christie during the 2016 presidential campaign until a certain someone became the official Republican nominee.

The series, called "Me, Myself & I", follows one man's life in three different periods of his life. He will be portrayed as a teenager in 1991 by Jack Dylan Grazer, as a 40-year-old in present day by Moynihan, and as a senior citizen in 2042 by John Larroquette. SNL's season finale on May 20 will officially be his last show as a member of the cast.
