Fox News' Guilfoyle up for White House press secretary job

"I think it'd be a fascinating job", she told the Mercury News.

She called for "much shorter, succinct interactions with the press", and - in a logical leap - suggested that the White House beat reporters stop hanging around the White House so much.

Bring in Kim Guilfoyle, have her, Spicer, and Sanders draw straws every day to face the press. That added fuel to rumors that Spicer was on his way out.

Spicer, as the president's press secretary, visits with the members of the media on a almost daily basis to update us, answer questions and speak for President Donald Trump. He thinks the press is often trying to play "gotcha" and also believes there's an inherent liberal bias among reporters. Top aides like Spicer may already be so linked to Trump in the public's mind that it's complicating their job prospects, giving them reason to stay put and hope for a rebound in the White House's fortunes.

"I think I have a very good relationship with the president", Guilfoyle, the former first lady of San Francisco, told the Bay Area News Group.

Trump has been considering a West Wing shakeup that could extend from Spicer to Chief of Staff Reince Priebus or Chief Strategist Steve Bannon, according to media reports. Trump has also talked in the past about "opening up libel laws" to make it easier for him to sue the media. Notoriously adverse to being made fun of, it appears that Trump is gearing up to replace his embattled press secretary. And an additional wrinkle is being considered as well: more press conferences by Trump himself, sources tell BuzzFeed News.

It's the latest in a series of rumors and rumblings about Spicer that started nearly since Day 1 of Trump's administration.

According to Politico, Guilfoyle said in the California interview she'd be willing to take a pay cut and move to Washington for a possible White House job.

But there are others that are saying that they are surprised that someone from Trump favorite Fox News would be so bold as to undercut a Trump employee who was still in the office the way Guilfoyle is thought to be disrespecting Sean Spicer.

Trump has grown increasingly frustrated with his communications officials over the past month, as mixed messaging and explanations have come out regarding a series of events like the firing of FBI Director James Comey.

For White House correspondents and reporters seeking answers on developments concerning his administration, Trump on Saturday offered this solution: "We do it through a piece of paper with a perfectly accurate, lovely answer".

'Sean's not leaving as press secretary, but that they are shaking up the briefings to scale them back, ' said a prominent D.C. Republican with close ties to the administration.

In rushing to defend Trump's disclosure to Lavrov as "appropriate", the White House has simply ignored the dire thrust of his offence as cited by analysts.
