Little Liams, adorable Avas: See Louisiana's most popular baby names for 2016

2016 list: Most popular baby names in New Hampshire - WMUR.com

The Social Security Administration has released its lists of most popular baby names in 2016.

Emma and Noah top the country's baby name list for the third year in a row, according to the report.

Avery, the ninth most popular name for girls in 2015, slipped to the 16th spot. More notable on the boy's side is the fall of Jacob, which was the most popular male name by far from 2000 through 2008. Liam and Mia were the No. 1 names for boys and girls in the Garden State in 2016, while Noah ranked No. 2 and Emma earned the No. 3, right behind Olivia. Perhaps this can be attributed to Kehlani Parrish, a singer/songwriter who was nominated for a Grammy in 2016. Lo said Mason moved off the list in 2016 and Noah moved from No. 4 to No. 2.

The national list also takes a look at the impact pop culture has on naming trends. Kylo Ren, the son of Han Solo and Princess Leia, is a character in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens". The royal family likely had something to do with this increase in popularity, or the 2015 World Series champions, the Kansas City Royals, may have influenced parents-to-be.
