Oblak to replace De Gea?

Benfica goalkeeper Ederson has been linked with Manchester United

David De Gea's future at Manchester United is in doubt with Real Madrid once again circling around the Spaniard.

Manchester United have been braced for a big bid for their Spanish goalkeeper this summer, just two years after Real Madrid's attempted move for the player broke down.

According to a report by Daniel Caballero in Goal, Los Blancos are now considering a summer swoop for the 24-year-old Slovenian worldwide, amidst growing uncertainty over current first choice shot-stopper Keylor Navas' form. Chelsea are reportedly looking to tie down Courtois to a long term contract and will likely offer him a huge contract in order to fend off interest from Real Madrid.

United would demand a world-record fee for a goalkeeper of £60million, if they decide to sell the 26-year-old.

The Argentine worldwide has impressed manager Jose Mourinho this season as a more than able deputy to De Gea - so much so that he is set to earn a new contract in the coming weeks.

Smalling has started only 12 Premier League games because of foot and knee injuries this season, but Mourinho has questioned the 27-year-old's dedication to the club, suggesting that he should play through the pain barrier.

De Gea came close to signing for Real Madrid back in September 2015 only for the deal to fall through at the last minute.

Mourinho is already making sure he has a few options on the table should he lose his No. 1, and Oblak is said to be his first choice right now.

United boss Jose Mourinho would prefer to keep the Spaniard in place at United and has said he will still be at the club in pre-season, but Oblak is his top target to replace him should he move to the Spanish capital.

In recent weeks it has nearly seemed as when, and not if, the player will move back to the Spanish capital.

Oblak has a £85m buyout clause in his contract.
