Rice chides Trump for criticism of judges, media

Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice joined Brian Kilmeade today to talk about her new book, "Democracy: Stories From The Long Road To Freedom".

When asked if she thought he was personally trying to go after Clinton, Rice said she did believe his motivation was personal.

She also concurred with Trump's controversial quip calling North Korean leader Kim Jong Un "a pretty smart cookie", though she also branded him "reckless" and "unhinged". She explained that by saying, "He likes to intimidate".

She said she tells her students that "if you sit in a room with people who say amen to everything you say, then find other company, because when you then encounter people who think differently you think they are... stupid".

In an interview with Fox News Channel host Sean Hannity, Rice praised the Trump administration for its work with the Chinese government to control North Korea's nuclear weapons program.

However, Rice endorsed Trump's policy of trying to enlist Chinese help against North Korea, which is believed to have conducted five nuclear tests since 2006 and to be developing intercontinental ballistic missiles that could strike the US mainland.

As for the results of the election, Ms. Rice said there's a reason Mr. Trump won that has nothing to do with Russian Federation. "When you are not credible about Syria, you're not credible about North Korea". And when you haven't been in government before it looks kind of easy in there, until you get in there.

Trump OKs arms for Syrian Kurds, despite Turkish objections
China, meanwhile, is fuming at Turkey for failing to act against ethnic Turkish Uyghurs from China. The official wasn't authorized to publicly discuss the decision and demanded anonymity.

Yates is expected to give her account of the warnings she reportedly gave to the White House regarding former National security Advisor Michael Flynn's conversations with the Russian Ambassador to the United States, Sergey Kislyak.

Rice said the USA task was to convince the Chinese that they had to choose between doing "really hard things to bring this regime into line or we will have to do harsh things".

"I think they are trying to incentivize the Chinese to change their view of this".

Rice, author of a new book "Democracy: Stories from the Long Road to Freedom", says that while there are many things the USA needs to cooperate with the Russians on, including the ongoing crisis in North Korea, Putin has not respected certain lines.

RICE: I think it was personal.

Rice added that it's now a "dangerous time with the Russians", saying that the USA needs to continue to send messages that the U.S. But let's not deceive ourselves that the Russians haven't tried these tricks before. It's really still very early, but I think they are doing okay.
