Robin Wright on 'House of Cards': 'Trump Stole All Our Ideas'

Michelle Obama could galvanise liberals during the Donald Trump years

In a recent interview, she was asked about how House of Cards would be changing in light of the new leader, leading her to quip about the future of the Netflix drama.

In the Netflix series the 51-year-old plays the ruthless first lady to Spacey's scheming United States president. She flat out told Variety that numerous near-daily scandals that are coming out of the real White House these days could be plot points on her show.

With only 7% of films directed by women, according to estimates, she said the problem was obvious. For four seasons of #HouseofCards, we have watched #RobinWright rule the roost as the fiery Claire Underwood, Frank's career and bedroom opposition.

Wright wouldn't speculate on how many more seasons there may be before the show ends its run, but she confessed that she and the fellow show producers, including Spacey, have discussed how to wrap up the intricate storylines, when the time comes.

Despite her battle for equal pay, it would seem Robin Wright - who plays Claire Underwood in House of Cards - wasn't given her wish on the show.

"Claire and Francis are equivalent as far as their power, their union and the plot", she said. Speaking at the Kering's Woman in Motion talks at the Cannes Film Festival, she said: "I think I was 17, in Paris, and went in for a go-see thinking they were just looking at the face". I may not have as many scenes or lines as Francis [played by Kevin Spacey] but Claire does not need to verbalize so much.

EXCLUSIVE: Are House of Cards Francis and Claire Underwood Based on Bill and Hillary Clinton? .

On fame: "I$3 Never wanted [fame], never sought it, never thought about it".

Wright, who poses topless in the digital magazine, crossing her arms over her chest, said she had turned her ambitions to directing, adding: "I don't want to be in front of the camera any more". "Feminism means equality period". That was a nightmare: you go into a go-see, lift up your shirt, then [someone says], 'Her boobs aren't big enough, ' and you're out... "I only want to direct".
