Scandal to End With Season 7

Reports ‘Scandal’ to end after season 7

ABC is expected to announce at next week's upfronts that the political drama's next season will be its last.

ABC and Shonda Rhimes have made a decision to bring "Scandal" to a close after its upcoming seventh season, according to a report from TVLine.

ABC is now airing season six with three episodes remaining. Besides, even if Scandal is gearing up for its last episodes, there's still a whole season for us to watch Kerry Washington do what she does best - while wearing a to-die-for coat, nonetheless.

Olivia Pope and her gladiators will fight their final battles in 2017-18. "But I love the show, and I would happily keep the show on as long as she feels that she has creative runway to write the show".

Back in 2013, Shonda Rhimes told NPR that Olivia Pope's story is not without end. And I can see where the end point is.

Maybe we'll see what she has in mind sooner rather than later. "I've never played a character for this long".

Now, it seems as if that ending is going to become a reality after just one more season of one of TV's hottest shows.

"I think there's only so much Scandal you can tell satisfactorily". Still, it hit series lows in the ratings in April, and is now averaging 5.7 million total viewers - down considerably from its heydey in Seasons 3 and 4, when it regularly pulled in around 12 million. Mellie is now the president of the United States, but what will Cyrus do?

While ABC, producers at ABC Studios and Shondaland declined to comment on the news, Shonda has previously has been vocal about the show's uncertain future.
