Swansea boss Clement: Fantastic win for us

Marco Silva's Hull will look to pull clear of relegation rivals Swansea this weekend

Should those records be identical come the end of the season, with a relegation place at stake, the Premier League would take the unprecedented step of organising a one-off match in line with the rules laid out in its annual handbook to decide which club retain their top-flight status.

Fernando Llorente's goal in the first half was enough for all three points against the Toffees as they moved upwards to be replaced by Hull in the drop zone.

Hull City lost 2-0 to Sunderland earlier in the day, and Swansea used that as an incentive to go for a win, with the Spanish striker scoring in the 29th minute.

And Llorente's 29th-minute header rewarded a performance full of energy and endeavour.

"I would like us to be in a better position, but because I feel so confident in the way the team are playing I would take it going to the last day now".

"We were under a lot of presure".

"But our confidence is up and if we continue in this way I think we will stay in the league".

Four consecutive home wins had put Hull's fate firmly in their own hands but, given the chance to pull five points clear of third-from-bottom Swansea City, they suffered an attack of the jitters that could prove fatal.

Hull's remaining two games are at Crystal Palace - who can still be overhauled by the Tigers and Swansea - and at home to Tottenham. The talented midfielder Ross Barkley is the Everton FC's second greatest goal threat this season, with a sum of five goals, but the side will be looking to utilize this young players creative capabilities this Saturday, the midfielder has provided eight assists this season.

And the World Cup victor showed his aerial strength again when rising above Phil Jagielka to meet the excellent Jordan Ayew's far-post cross.

But a 2-0 home victory over Stoke and a 1-1 draw at Manchester United last weekend has encouraged the Swans ahead of closing games against Everton, Sunderland and West Brom.

Llorente missed a golden chance against United. Wayne Routledge and Angel Rangel remain out for the Welsh team and Jefferson Montero is probably out for the season after getting injured last weekend.

Alfie Mawson (Swansea): He was superb in the face of a late Everton onslaught, making one particularly eye-catching block a minute from time, and in truth never looked troubled. "It's been done by the players and led by Leon, and we hope they get up there safely".

Second-half goals by Billy Jones and Jermain Defoe earned bottom club Sunderland a first win in 11 games and condemned Hull to a first home defeat under Marco Silva.
