Tornadoes touch down in Oklahoma, Texas no injuries reported

The severe weather through midweek will be the start of another active weather pattern across the Central states as more flooding and severe thunderstorms target the region spanning Thursday to Sunday. While the tornado threat at this time appears low, any storms that develop south of I-70 during the afternoon could pose a threat for a tornado or two, particularly across the enhanced risk area.

At 2:30 p.m., the line of thunderstorms had pushed east of Lincoln, where any severe weather was likely to be focused for the rest of the day. The next email will be sent Friday morning concerning the severe threat on Friday and storms over the weekend. The highest threat for heavy rain will generally be south of USA 36.

Southwest and Central Kansas is apparently in the bullseye for severe weather later today, including tornadoes, large hail and damaging thunderstorm winds.

We're becoming more concerned with an increasing very large hail and damaging wind event across parts of North Texas through late evening. Over a dozen tornadoes were reportedly spawned by powerful storms that raced through a swath of the central US stretching from Texas to the Great Lakes on Tuesday evening. While a strong or severe storms is not impossible today, widespread severe weather is not expected.

After a low overnight Thursday into Friday around 42, Friday should be partly sunny, with a high near 59 and east winds at 10 to 15 miles per hour.

But the real danger, meteorologists warned, was the overnight threat of flash flooding.

Monday will be dry before a chance of rainfall returns in the forecast Tuesday, mainly during the afternoon hours, according to the weather service.

This comes after powerful winds and heavy rain ripped through eastern Nebraska Tuesday night, leaving behind damaged homes, farms and businesses and thousands of people without electricity. Between three-fourths and one inch of rain is possible. This means numerous severe storms are possible.

Tomorrow: Increasing clouds, isolated p.m. storms, some severe. The high winds during a tornado can rip a mobile home, which frequently would not have a foundation, from its moorings.
