Amir jolts India's top order

Pakistan thrashed arch-rivals India by 180 runs to win the worldwide cricket tournament at The Oval in London, U.K. on Sunday.

Earlier, Pakistan made 338 for four after losing the toss with opener Fakhar Zaman's 114 his maiden one-day worldwide hundred in just his fourth match at this level.

India was then routed for 158 in the 31st over. However, the 18-year-old made his captain Sarfraz Ahmed take the review which turned out to be a great call.

Mohammad Amir celebrates taking the wicket of India's Rohit Sharma, lbw for 0 during the ICC Champions Trophy final.

Amir took out all three of India's premier batsmen, bowled a maiden for figures of 6-2-16-3, then watched as his teammates mopped up.

Fakhar cashed in on a major let-off when he was caught behind off a Jasprit Bumrah front-foot no-ball with just three to his name, the opener punishing India by hitting three sixes and 12 fours off 106 balls.

Arthur admitted Pakistan were desperate to prove they could go toe to toe with tournament favourites India with the title up for grabs.

But the Pakistanis wrote off that defeat as an aberration.

Pakistan coach Mickey Arthur said he hoped a proposed World XI visit to the country later this year went ahead after his side served notice of their enduring talent with a stunning Champions Trophy final win over India.

After losing the toss and being sent in to bat Pakistan started brightly and reached 128 runs before losing their first wicket. But luck was on Pakistan's side.

Zaman was batting at 3 at that point.

It was Azhar's run out in the 23rd over which gave India their first break in the match.

India were below par with the ball with the duo of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja remaining wicketless in their spells.

Pakistan have been badly bruised against India this series in their opening group stage match, having lost the game by 124 runs via the Duckworth-Lewis (D/L) method. He danced to the other end, waved his bat to all parts of the packed ground, and kissed the pitch.

Azhar had a run-out scrape too, on 29, when Rohit Sharma missed the stumps from midwicket this time as Pakistan's frenetic start continued. Ali scored 59 before Mohammed Hafeez provided a late burst with 37-ball 57. Their highest against India is 344, but that was in a chase of 350.

But so did Pakistan, who restricted their last three opponents to below 240.

In Amir's second over, Kohli was dropped at slip.

Even Golden Bat victor Shikhar Dhawan couldn't resist Amir's persistent accuracy, edging through outside off-stump, and when teenage spinner Shadab Khan successfully convinced Sarfraz Ahmed to review a "not out" lbw decision against Yuvraj Singh India's hopes were fading fast at 54-4.

Pakistan bowler Hasan Ali won the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy Golden Ball award for the top bowler of the tournament.
