Andrea Constand Testifies on Day 2 of Bill Cosby Trial

Andrea Constand, Cosby's chief accuser, who says he drugged and sexually assaulted her at his suburban Philadelphia mansion in 2004.

Tuesday marked the first time Constand had faced each other in court since 2005, when she was given a financial settlement after she filed a civil suit against Cosby.

The entertainer's defence team has resumed its cross-examination of Andrea Constand one day after she broke her long public silence by telling his trial he gave her three blue pills and then assaulted her in 2004 as she lay paralysed, unable to tell him to stop.

Andrea Constand said Tuesday that she felt paralyzed and helpless as Cosby groped her breasts, penetrated her with his hand and placed her hand on his penis. "I remember him being behind me, making those grunting sounds", she testified.

WHAT'S NEXT: Defense lawyers will continue their cross-examination of Constand on Wednesday. "I said, 'I'm seeing two of you, I'm slurring my words'". I told Mr. Cosby I had trouble seeing him - that I could see two of him.

Cosby's attorney questioned her motives and said she had given conflicting statements to authorities, including describing the incident as having occurred after a Chinese dinner with him.

Mason testified that Constand said she'd waited to come forward because she was embarrassed and was daunted by Cosby's strong standing at his alma mater Temple University, where she worked for the basketball program.

"I was frozen. I was very limp so I wasn't able to fight in any way". Constand says the mood was friendly and the room light enough to eat.

The mostly white jury is composed of seven men and five women, according to WHYY's Bobby Allyn.

Agrusa has suggested that Constand once enjoyed a romantic dinner by the fire at Cosby's home before the alleged assault.

Constand said she did not have the courage at the time to tell her family what had happened, so she just went along with it.

His recollection of her testimony largely matched what Johnson had testified to the day before, undermining defense efforts to attack her credibility.

Ms Johnson's mother, Patrice Sewell, took the stand on Tuesday, testifying that her daughter had called her in 1996 to recount the assault.

Therese Serignese, one of dozens who've alleged Cosby molested them decades ago, walks outside the courtroom during lunch break at Bill Cosby's sexual assault trial at the Montgomery County Courthouse on Tuesd.

"I wasn't able to", Constand said. "Somebody I trusted. A mentor". That account comes from Variety, which adds that Cosby claimed "he would never ask her to do anything that would be harmful". Constand was considering a career change and went to Cosby's home to discuss it. Mason testified he responded to Constand's home in Pickering, about 10 p.m. January 13, 2005, at which time Constand revealed the alleged sexual assault. In the deposition, Cosby confessed to obtaining strong sedatives to hand out to females he wanted to have sex with, although he insisted he didn't use them when he is alleged to have assaulted Constand. Cosby potentially faces up to 10 years in prison on each of three related aggravated indecent assault charges, although the sentences could be merged, and he could get far less time if convicted.

But the 44-year-old Constand brushed aside the broadsides like a courtroom pro, the Philadelphia Daily News reports.
