Angry protesters storm local town hall after deadly London fire

The leader of the council facing intense criticism over its handling of the Grenfell Tower disaster has insisted there is an "effective" relief effort on the ground.

Reuters was not able to determine how widely or how closely these guidelines were followed in similar renovations, and it was not clear what impact the guidelines would have had in the case of Grenfell Tower.

Prime Minister Theresa May has already ordered a public inquiry into the disaster in hopes of calming public anxiety.

If that death toll is confirmed, it would make the Grenfell Tower blaze the deadliest in Londonsince World War Two.

She was then escorted away by cops before being bundled into her vehicle as protestors surged forward. More than 3 million pounds ($3.8 million) have been raised for the victims.

Employees at Goldman Sachs, meanwhile, have donated and delivered more than 100 boxes of children's clothing and books to the ongoing response being led by the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.

The Queen added that during her recent visits in Manchester, the site of the suicide bombing last month which claimed 22 lives, and London the scene of a terror attack earlier this month and most recently the massive fire she has been "profoundly struck by the immediate inclination of people throughout the country to offer comfort and support to those in desperate need".

One woman wept saying it was because the Prime Minister declined to speak to anyone outside the meeting which lasted less than hour. Police barred their way and scuffles broke out.

PM Theresa May was criticised for this visit, where she only met with emergency workers.

Angry protesters chanting "We want justice" stormed their way into the Kensington and Chelsea town hall on Friday.

Queen Elizabeth II and Prince William visited an aid distribution site Friday for the tower's residents and met with volunteers.

The mayor and his wife Saadiya joined the congregation Sunday at St.

"This fire could have been stopped a long, long time ago".

Footage has shown the fire travelling up one side of the building, before engulfing the entire block. What has changed since then? Nothing. Enough is enough, I have got friends in that tower. "Because of people saving money, people are dying". Government and ministers will cooperate fully. I don't really think it is appropriate to be talking about whether people have humanity or not.

"Understandably, people are desperately traumatised and, yes, people are angry and that is totally understandable. You have to be prepared to receive people's emotions, and not be so frightened about people", former Conservative cabinet minister Michael Portillo told the BBC.

Like many other residents she has spent the days following the fire living in temporary shelters with minimal sleep, printing and distributing posters wherever she can. "She wanted an entirely controlled situation in which she didn't use her humanity".

The NHS have announced that 24 survivors from the Grenfell Tower fire are continuing to be treated at various hospital across #London.

People write messages on a wall for the victims and in support for those affected by the massive fire in Grenfell Tower, in London, Thursday, June 15, 2017.

Whole families are said to be among the missing, including Bassem Choukeir, his wife Nadia, her mother Sariyya and the couple's three daughters Mirna, Fatmeh and Zaynab.

"You don't get an idea of just how big that building is from here but when you're underneath it and it's all in flames, it's a giant, a giant of fire right there", Mr Martin said.

The U.S. Green Building Council, which oversees the industry-leading certification known as Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), said in a statement to The Associated Press that the Grenfell tragedy holds safety lessons.
