Antonio Conte Reportedly Could Quit Chelsea over Club's Lack of Transfers

Super-agent Jorge Mendes keen to push through major Chelsea transfer

Conte is keen to win the Champions League as a manager, something he feels can not be achieved without significant improvements to his current working conditions at Chelsea.

Antonio Conte is not close to leaving Chelsea and has not expressed frustration with their transfer strategy or management structure, sources close to the club have told ESPN FC.

However, according to Sky Sports, the Blues remain confident about the Italian, who won a league title in his first season with the club.

The Sun now claims that Conte has received the full support from Chelsea's hierarchy, which sends a clear message to the squad that the Italian's decision to axe Costa is fully supported.

That prompted suggestions of friction between Conte and the Chelsea leadership, given Costa's availability becoming public could reduce his value in the transfer market.

It's said that Conte wants direct communication with owner Roman Abramovich and club official Marina Granovskaia after missing out on some of his key targets last summer.

Chelsea's contract negotiations with keeper Thibaut Courtois have stalled with his £100,000 per week deal expiring in two years.

He was named first-team head coach, rather than manager, outlining his priorities are on the training pitch, rather than in transfer negotiations. The 47-year-old athlete believes a number of high quality additions are needed at Stamford Bridge, as the club prepares for next season's Premier League and Champions League campaigns.

Despite Chelsea assurances, Italian media continue to insist Antonio Conte is ready to walk away and Paris Saint-Germain offer a lifeline.

Conte is now on holiday, his first since agreeing to take over in the spring of 2016, and expected sporting director Michael Emenalo and transfer negotiator Marina Granovskaia to strengthen the squad in his absence.
