Belleville man who shot 5 at GOP baseball practice acted alone

House Speaker Paul Ryan says the congressman grievously injured in last week's shooting at a Republican baseball practice is "on the road to recovery" but it will take some time.

The shooter who attacked a GOP baseball practice in Alexandria, Virginia, last week carried a list with the names of six members of Congress, the Federal Bureau of Investigation said Wednesday, adding that the incident had no connection to terrorism and the shooter acted alone.

Hodgkinson had a piece of paper with the names of six members of Congress written on it, Slater said, but the note lacked any further context and there was no evidence from his computer, phone or other belongings that indicated he planned to target those officials. "The FBI is investigating this shooting as an assault on a member of Congress and an assault on a federal officer".

A "rough sketch of several streets" in the District of Columbia was also found but officials said it was believed to be "not of investigative significance".

Mr. Hodgkinson began firing on members of Congress and others at the Eugene Simpson Stadium Park in Alexandria, Va., as they practiced for the annual congressional charity baseball game. The hospital released a statement Wednesday saying Scalise's condition had improved to fair and that he is "beginning an extended period of healing and rehabilitation".

Scalise, who is now receiving treatment at the MedStar Hospital in Washington has undergone a series of surgeries and is said to be in fair condition.

Eurozone, IMF find minimum deal on Greek debt
The IMF, which can remain in the bailout programme only if deems Greek debt to be sustainable, pushed for relief measures. This Eurogroup meeting, he said, may be "decisive" in that it will be "very positive for Greece and the Greek people".

Hodgkinson was "struggling in all kinds of different ways", said Slater.

Slater said Hodgkinson was not known to have a history of diagnosed mental illness, though he displayed "anger management" issues. Inside, among his belongings, investigators found 200 rounds of ammunition and a receipt for a gun purchase in November 2016. He was the most seriously injured victim among the five who were shot last week.

A lobbyist, a congressional aide and a U.S. Capitol Police officer were also shot in the incident. A family member told investigators Hodgkinson had expressed a desire to return to IL in a message on June 12.

The bill also turns another of Trump's campaign into law by creating a permanent VA accountability office, which Trump established by executive order in April. Records showed he visited the storage unit more than 43 times in two months, usually between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m. He said it appeared Hodgkinson was married for 30 years and the marriage was not "going so well". U.S. Capitol Police and other officers returned fire and killed Hogdkinson, an unemployed home inspector with a deep animus toward President Donald Trump and other Republicans. The two teams played the Congressional baseball game as scheduled the day after the shooting.
