Boeing unveils plans for new version of 737 Max

At last year's Farnborough Airshow in the United Kingdom, the F-35 wowed audiences with its ability to hover in midair and even fly backwards.

The Airbus manufacturer on Sunday unveiled its A380plus wide-body jet plane, an upgraded version of what is the world's largest passenger aircraft.

Such a display would come as future sales to more European countries could be a hot topic. Since May 2, F-35 pilots on five occasions reported symptoms of oxygen deprivation, he said.

Airbus and General Electric's aircraft leasing arm, GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS), announced the firm order Monday.

The A380plus will have an increased maximum take-off weight (MTOW) of 578 tonnes providing the flexibility of carrying up to 80 more passengers over today's range (8,200nm), or flying 300nm further.

On the other hand, the latest variant of the most popular aircraft on the planet - the 737 MAX 9, is now the most sought after aircraft for aviation enthusiasts.

The 190-to-230-seat Boeing 737 MAX 10, created to narrow a gap against European rival Airbus, will be launched on Monday with over 100 orders, two people familiar with the plans said. Test flights have been completed and Boeing is now talking to customers about ordering the Max 10. The 737 Max 10 is expected to sell for a little more than the shorter Max 9, which has a list price of $119.2 million before discounts that are customary for aircraft purchases. They compete with Airbus planes in the A320-neo family, aiming at a similar short- to mid-range market.

"The very big airplane market for the last 10-15 years has been moving downward and downward", Marketing Vice President Randy Tinseth told the Paris Air Forum on Friday.

But he said questions remain over to what extent that demand would be met by four-engined jets like the A380 or big twinjets closer to 400 seats, like the Boeing 777-9 and Airbus A350-1000. In another boost for a defence project, French President Emmanuel Macron flew into the show on an Airbus A400M military transporter in his first official engagement since winning a parliamentary majority in elections on Sunday.

Thousands are expected at the biennial aviation and defense industry gathering this week.
