WBTV reported a year ago that her parents found a diary detailing plans to run off with an older man she met online.

"You have to distract yourself because you will drive yourself insane wondering what you could have done, or could be doing", Anthony Burns, her father, added.

WBTV reported in May 2016 that Burns had a diary her parents found that detailed a plan to run off with an older man she met online.

Her family also told local media the teen had been diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome, her family told local media. "They are grateful for the outpouring of support they have received while she's been missing". "You have to hope that they still find her, wherever she is".
