CMT Awards Feature Stars From All Genres, Hollywood

There will also be collaborative sets from Luke Bryan and Jason Derulo, Carrie Underwood and Keith Urban, Earth, Wind & Fire and Lady Antebellum, as well as the Chainsmokers and Florida Georgia Line. Download the WFMY News 2 App now.

In his acceptance speech on Wednesday, Derulo thanked country fans for embracing him.

"Reba McEntire just gave me an award so that's pretty insane", said the shocked 22-year-old singer. This award is for everybody watching this, everybody outside who couldn't get in, everybody who comes to see us play in concert.

"You've all heard Keith and Carrie sing their smash hit The Fighter, but I guarantee you've never heard it like this", the night's host, Nashville star Charles Esten announced while introducing the dazzling number to a roaring crowd. "I love making music".

"To CMT and everybody who voted for this, it means everything to me".

That was such a clever joke since Carrie definitely represented the team as her husband Mike Fisher, the Predators captain, is now gearing up up to play in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday, June 8. The win gives Underwood the most wins in the show's history with 17 in total. While accepting her awards, the former "American Idol" contestant expressed her gratitude for all the fans before cheering her husband Mike Fisher.

Perhaps Ashton Kutcher brought the Nashville Predators some luck with his stunt during Wednesday's CMT Awards.

Nashville has gone catfish insane of late, as it has become something of a ritual for fans to hurl the whiskered fish onto the ice during games.

Underwood also took home Female Video honors for "Church Bells".

Who is performing at the CMT Awards?

The other nominees in this top category are Carrie Underwood, Cole Swindell, Florida Georgia Line, Luke Bryan, Miranda Lambert and the CMA-produced 50th anniversary video featuring an all-star cast billed as Artists of Then, Now & Forever. Additionally, the Brothers Osborne and Peter Frampton will perform together for the first time ever.
