Columnist Kirsten Powers: 'How was Sen. Harris hysterical?'

After watching the brutal takedown of Sessions long enough, Arizona Sen. On Tuesday, attorney general Jeff Sessions also tried to filibuster the former California attorney general's questions without properly answering them. Fair. But she should be able to ask the question.

Miller responds with, "It was a completely partisan screed", before Powers cuts him off by reposing her question, "How was that hysterical?"

On Wednesday night, Martha MacCallum invited Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) and Democratic pollster Jessica Tarlov to discuss whether or not Senator Kamala Harris (D-CA) has been the victim of sexism at several recent Senate hearings.

Harris subsequently tweeted that she was simply trying to discern why Sessions was refusing to answer certain questions during his testimony.

Powers again questioned how that was the same thing as "hysterical", but Miller said it was just "his opinion".

"No, nothing to do with being black". Harris asked him straight up: What is that policy and did you actually look at it?

Before you get super excited about the possibilities of further clarity into these American issues because Sessions might have said something, we're glad to let you know that Attorney General Jefferson Beauregard Sessions (why's his middle name "beauregard" though) said nothing particularly new or helpful. "The policy is based-" Sessions began.

Conservative author and firebrand Michelle Malkin shot back that it wasn't Harris who was being interrupted - it was Sessions. Harris released a statement which read, "I am honored to even be mentioned, but intend to continue my work for the people of California as Attorney General".

Sessions said he had conversations regarding the "general strategic concept" that the US and Russian Federation could forge a more harmonious relationship.

Had Sessions been his predecessor, he would have simply said, "Yeah we met in private ... we talked about our grandchildren". "She was purely out there to shout down [Sessions]".

And in the interests of public service, let's speak now to the newcomers and to the East Coast journalists and pundits who are apparently quite shook after witnessing Sen.

"The chair is going to exercise the right to allow the witnesses to answer the question, and the committee is on notice to provide the witnesses the courtesy - which has not been extended all the way across - extend the courtesy for questions to get answered", Mr Burr said.

TOOBIN: Well, and also, remember, they are dealing with very tight time deadlines.

Harris: Did you ask staff to see the policy?

"I think she was hysterical", Miller said. In addition, at these hearings, each Senator is given a limited time to speak and frankly, there is not much time for consideration of those testifying in terms of considering their "ability to be rushed".
