Coroner examining death of United States student released by North Korea

The meeting came days after American college student Otto Warmbier died after being returned from North Korea in a coma.

He declined to estimate how long it would take for the coroner's office to complete its inquiry.

But plans changed after the coroner's office decided at the family's urging not to conduct an autopsy, instead limiting its examination to an external analysis of Warmbier's remains and review of his records, Zornes said.

Warmbier was sentenced to 15 years in prison with hard labor after being convicted of attempting to steal a propaganda banner.
