Cosby lawyers accuse Andrea Constand of lying to police

The second day of the Bill Cosby sexual-assault trial took an important turn on Tuesday, when the complainant, Andrea Constand, took the stand to provide her account of the alleged assault that occurred 13 years ago.

According to her testimony (which was unknown to the judge beforehand), Constand believed Cosby to be a friend and mentor, who was going to help her get into the business of sports broadcasting.

Keshia Knight Pulliam says she is praying for all parties involved in the Bill Cosby trial this week as she supports her television dad who is defending himself against allegations of sexual assault.

Constand has never spoken about her encounter with Cosby because the terms of the civil settlement she reached with him in 2006 barred either of them from doing so.

"So once you got ahold of your phone records and realized you could not have been passed out and unconscious, you changed your story", Agrusa asked.

Constand said it was just business concerning the university basketball team. "He said 'put them down [your throat]".

A hush came over the Montgomery County courtroom when Andrea Constand, 44, walked to the witness box where she testified Cosby sexually assaulted her at his Cheltenham mansion in January 2004 after plying her with "three blue pills" and wine.

So far, more than 50 women have come forward to accuse the former Cosby Show actor of drugging and sexually assaulting them.

Constand, who is gay, says the sexual contact with not consensual. "There was a nice mood.", Agrusa began, paraphrasing Constand's 2005 statement to police.

The woman at the centre of Bill Cosby's criminal sex assault trial was left "humiliated" and "confused" after his alleged 2004 attack, a court has heard.

"I felt that if I had gone to the police, that Mr. Cosby would retaliate and try to hurt me, that he would try to hurt me or my family in some way", she testified. Cosby grinned at the defence table as she struggled to explain them.

Johnson testified on Day 1 that she lost consciousness soon after Cosby pressured her to take a large white pill. "I wasn't scared of someone making a pass at me".

The comedian, then one of America's most beloved comedians, was a university trustee and the Philadelphia school's most famous alumnus.

Agrusa noted that Constand and Cosby exchanged numerous gifts, and that the comedian gave her cashmere sweaters, perfume and a $225 hair dryer.

"My dress was pulled up from the bottom, and it was pulled down from the top, and my breasts were out", she said, crying.

Kelly Johnson, Ms Sewell's daughter, testified on Monday that he gave her a pill to "relax" during a meeting at his Los Angeles hotel room for career advice. "My mouth was very cottony...." Cosby grabbed her by the arm, she said, and brought her to a couch to lie down.

But then the full effect of the pills struck the former college hoops star and she began to feel drowsy.

"In my head, I was trying to get my hands to move or my legs to move, but I was frozen", she said, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Legal experts say the case will essentially boil down to her word against his. "I just wanted to go home". She said that, at the time, she felt Cosby was taking the time to introduce her to people because she was "a Canadian person in a new city".
