1 dead in crash near London mosque suspected as terrorism

One person was killed and eight others injured when a van was driven into people near a north London mosque shortly after they had just finished worshipping at the Finsbury Park mosque after breaking the Ramadan fast.

TIME reports that 10 others were injured and police are investigating the incident as a terrorist attack. However, the agencies have not termed it as a terror incident yet. I am grateful to our emergency services, who responded quickly and have been working on the scene throughout the night.

The Muslim Council of Wales said it was "horrified by the news of the attack on Muslim worshippers".

Rudd, who is in charge for government law enforcement, said: "Londoners have been hit with a series of attacks and have been nothing short of heroic." she said Monday.

The van driver, a 48-year-old man, has been arrested and Home Secretary Amber Rudd said the police were treating it "as a terrorist incident". He has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, according to police.

"People were just conversing, talking, just doing what we're doing", said the man, who declined to give his name. Parents are scared to send their children to evening prayers. The Counter Terrorism Command is carrying out the investigation.

"Extra officers are on duty in the area to help reassure the local community", Police Commissioner Cressida Dick said.

Police have described it a "major incident" which occurred at about 12.20am on Monday, and have confirmed the death of one of the pedestrians.

London mayor Sadiq Khan said: "My thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected".

One man outside the Finsbury Park mosque died at the scene, a van driver was arrested and eight people were taken to hospitals following the early morning incident.

Trump says he's under investigation, his lawyer says he isn't
He also claimed he is being investigated for firing FBI Director James Comey by "the man" who asked him to take that step. A lawyer for Mr Trump legal team later asserted the President is not under investigation , despite the the tweet .

DAC Basu added: The attack unfolded whilst a man was receiving first aid from the public at the scene. On June 3, a van drove into a crowd of people walking on the London Bridge, followed by knife attacks that killed eight and wounded many others. "He was fighting to run away". According to the 2011 Census, half the population in the borough aged under 25 are from nonwhite ethnic backgrounds.

- Opened in 1994, Finsbury Park Mosque is an unassuming five-story red brick building in residential north London, close to Arsenal Football Club's Emirates Stadium. The mosque was closed and later reorganized and has not been associated with radical views for more than a decade.

Its former imam Abu Hamza was jailed for life in NY on terrorism charges in 2015.

The London mosque which was the site of a van attack has chequered history, including a link to one of Britain's best-known Islamic fundamentalists. The mosque called it a "callous terrorist attack".

"Like the awful attacks in Manchester, Westminster and London Bridge it is also an assault on all our shared values of tolerance, freedom and respect", he said in a statement.

- "London is a city of many faiths and many nationalities".

Police said a suspect was quickly and calmly turned over to the police, and that no one else was found in the van.

Speaking after the attack, a Muslim Welfare House spokesman also appealed for calm while police get to the bottom of what actually happened.

'Enough is enough, my condolences and prayers for all the victims and their families.

"The Muslim Council works "to promote consultation, cooperation and coordination on Muslim affairs in the United Kingdom".
