Gerry Adams tells Theresa May she has 'breached the Good Friday Agreement'

Mrs May held talks at Downing Street with the other Northern Ireland political parties in an attempt to allay growing concerns that the expected DUP deal would undermine the peace process.

Instead of gaining an increased majority, the Conservative Party lost seats and ended up as the largest party in a hung parliament, becoming dependent to govern on a hastily cobbled-together supply and confidence arrangement with Northern Ireland's Democratic Unionist Party- hardly an ideal scenario with the important formal Brexit negotiations with the European Union set to begin next week.

Earlier, Andrea Leadsom, leader of the lower house of parliament, said the government had agreed with Queen Elizabeth, who reads out the new government programme, that the "state opening of parliament will take place on 21 June 2017".

Talks with the DUP broke up on Tuesday night without an agreement, but Mrs May said the discussions had been "productive".

The proposed deal would see the DUP back the Conservatives in votes on the Budget and confidence motions.

He said: "They were hard negotiators".

Philadelphia 76ers in trade talks with Boston Celtics for first-overall pick
Both Boston and Philadelphia would benefit immensely if they were to trade draft positions. If it is not, this could be a franchise-altering decision.

Though on the surface, Thursday's meeting with Northern Irish parties is aimed at breaking the logjam in forming a new cross-party regional government in the province, May needs broader acceptance of a Conservative-DUP deal.

These reasons include a corruption scandal involving Ms Foster and "the DUP's ongoing refusal to implement key aspects of the Good Friday and subsequent binding agreements, such as introducing fair and impartial mechanisms to deal with the legacy of the conflict, a Bill of Rights and an Irish Language Act", a measure to enhance the use of Irish Gaelic in public life.

That laid out the remaining obstacles to power-sharing in Northern Ireland, he said.

He added: "And we itemised those matters in which she was dilatory or in default in relation to that agreement". "An agreement to restore devolved power-sharing government in Stormont must be reached by the 29 June deadline", he said.

They added: "Scotland's handsome scenery and architecture make it an worldwide wedding destination and for [Foster] to seek to prevent people from Northern Ireland exercising their right, as United Kingdom citizens, to marry in Scotland is shameful and requires an apology".

"I want to see us deliver Brexit and we are 100 per cent ready to get on with the job".

Brexit minister David Davis plans to go to Brussels on Monday to start the talks, which will reshape not only Britain's role in the world, but also that of a bloc praised by many for ensuring peace after World War Two.

The meeting between Foster and Varadkar highlighted issues that have made some British politicians wary of a deal with the DUP.

With this eventuality in mind, one of the party's ten Westminster MPs Jim Shannon tried to allay concerns that there will be a hard border between Northern Ireland and the Republic that could hinder trade.
