Golden Knights Ask Fans for Input on Which Blackhawks Player to Pick

United Nations armored personnel vehicles are stationed with an ambulance outside Campement Kangaba a tourist resort near Bamako Mali Sunday

Within that time frame, the Golden Knights can make any type of transaction they want - from side deals with existing teams interested in protecting assets, to flip deals, in which Vegas would draft a specific player from one team's unprotected list and then flip that player to another team for other considerations.

McPhee's message to teams Sunday was: "You can negotiate your way out of this if you wish".

"There have been a lot of inquiries about players on other teams", McPhee said.

Reports indicate several teams are willing to ship McPhee a high draft pick or top prospect if he'll bypass certain available players He could also balk at taking on veterans with expensive long-term contracts, such as Ryan and Luongo.

Three of the four New Hampshire NHL players will be made available: Merrimack's Tim Schaller of the Boston Bruins, Derry's Paul Thompson of the Florida Panthers and Orford's Ben Lovejoy of the New Jersey Devils.

McPhee is well within his rights to take that position because he's in the driver's seat, but the belief is he's rubbing some teams the wrong way.

Most players have been saved under their no movement clause.

The Golden Knights' selection of 30 players - one from each National Hockey League club - will be revealed at the 2017 National Hockey League awards and expansion draft on Wednesday in Las Vegas. Vegas has indicated via statement they will give all 30 clubs "every opportunity to keep their rosters intact if they'd like".

For 72 hours, or until Vegas finalizes its expansion roster after striking its many and varied side deals, McPhee is the ringmaster of the National Hockey League circus, overseeing a massive churning of National Hockey League rosters.

Available talent was limited for Atlanta in the 1999 expansion draft as clubs could protect nine forwards, five defencemen, and one goaltender or seven forwards, three defencemen and two goalies.

Las Vegas has an exclusive window now through 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 20 to sign free agents and make trades with other teams.

Buffalo's protected list did not include Carrier or goalie, Linus Ullmark. Marchessault had a breakout season in 2016-17 with 30 goals and was considered a player to watch going into next year.

Which is why he'd be a good choice for the Las Vegas Golden Knights in the expansion draft-Carrier is young, has Western Conference size, can skate, plays a north/south game and has upside.

"We have things lined up", McPhee said. Whether he uses those assets as picks or opts to trade them to acquire even more assets down the road remains to be seen. The Golden Knights are going to end up with a bevy of draft picks, and the Thrashers provide a rough timeline for when that might show results. So, as a hypothetical, a team that might be interested in Washington's Grubauer could incentivize Vegas to select him in the expansion draft and then subsequently trade him.

The list of Blackhawks protected from the expansion draft was revealed Sunday morning, and it comes as no surprise that there weren't really any surprises on it.

The Golden Knights already have the No. 6 overall pick in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft, which begins on Friday.

"This has worked out very well for the Vegas Golden Knights and we expect to put a good, entertaining club on the ice", McPhee said. Since defensemen are of the utmost importance they may choose to select two or there extra d-man for trade purposes.
