Gunman Targeted Republicans And Had Political Assassination List

A list with several names of Congress members written on it was reportedly found with the man suspected of opening fire at a GOP baseball practice on Wednesday, according to several reports. Sue Hodgkinson said she felt "horrible", saying, "I had no idea this was going to happen and I don't know what to say about it".

Five people were injured, including Congressman Steve Scalise from Louisiana, who remains in critical condition at MedStar hospital.

"I was a little shocked out of all the cities in the United States it would be a little Midwest town like this", said Claire Hatch, a lifelong resident.

WANG: Well, at this point, the FBI's confirmed that the shooter used a 9-millimeter handgun and also a 7.62-caliber rifle.

Hodgkinson's social media posts painted a picture of disdain for the Republican Party and President Trump.

The FBI said authorities are speaking with people who knew Hodgkinson or who may have encountered him.

"I know he wasn't happy with the way things were going, the election results and stuff", he told The New York Times. Hodgkinson moved from Belleville to Alexandria, Virginia, not long after Schaumleffel's "shots fired" call, the Federal Bureau of Investigation reported. Officials said Hodgkinson has been identified as the man who opened fire on Republican lawm.

No staff members noticed any "inappropriate or unusual behavior" and no one complained about him, the YMCA said. It was written on notepad paper and had the names of at least three Republican congressmen on it, including representative Jeff Duncan, who spoke with Hodgkinson before the attack.

"We will not give in to fear, violence or hate", Aguilar said.

Until recently, Hodgkinson ran a home-inspection business out of his house in southern IL.

"Looking back with 20/20 hindsight, I can see how the guy was troubled, but at the time I thought he was working", Brennwald said. Sanders acknowledged Wednesday that Hodgkinson had apparently been among many volunteers on his 2016 campaign.

In March he endorsed a petition from left-leaning activist group Change.Org branding Trump a "traitor" who "has destroyed our democracy".

"I yelled, 'Quit shooting toward the houses, '" Schaumleffel said. In a statement released Thursday morning, his family said Mika was shot in the chest and arm and suffered massive trauma, the Detroit News reports. The county that it's in, St. Clair County, is politically purple.
