Incredible footage shows crowd catch falling teen from U.S. amusement park ride

After slipping out of her seat on the ride, the girl was left hanging 25 feet in the air.

Mr Howard and his daughter were among those who caught the girl when she fell. "It's OK to let go, I'll catch you, honey,"' Howard told the AP.

The crowd erupted into cheers and clapping as the girl was rushed by staff to an awaiting golf-buggy to take her for medical treatment.

Loren Lent, from Glenville, said Sunday that his 10-year-old daughter has been affected by the incident.

The Great Escape told local reporters that "there does not appear to be any malfunction of the ride, but we have closed the attraction until a thorough review can be completed". The two took the brunt of the girl's fall, collapsing to the ground themselves.

She was later taken by helicopter to Albany Medical Center and was reported to be in stable condition with no serious injuries.

Howard received treatment for a minor back injury following the daring rescue and was later released. "No one wants to put himself underneath a body like that, but I couldn't stand by and watch".

They did not know how she had fallen out of the ride. The girl's little brother was shaken but otherwise uninjured.

The pair visited her in the hospital to say as much Sunday.

Another child was also in the auto, the sheriff's office said.

"It's unbelievable you know I mean as I keep saying too God put us in the right place at the right time, you know we were able to do something good and we saved a child's life", Winchell said.

Howard is just happy he and his daughter were among those on the ground below. "The safety and security of our guests is our top priority and our thoughts and prayers are with our guest and her family".

The ride was inspected by officials and found to be in proper working order, a park official said.

Sheriff's investigators, assisted by park personnel, inspected the ride and the vehicle the girl was in Saturday night and said everything was in proper working order and all safety equipment was intact and operational. "We are reviewing our internal procedures to ensure the safety and security of our guests and team members".
