Infosys President Sandeep Dadlani quits for 'out-of-the-world' new assignment

Infosys like its other Indian IT rivals is seeing less business from retail giants Wal Mart Stores and Best Buy as traditional retail companies try to fend-off competition from the rise of e-commerce as more people opt to buy online

The move will be a setback for Sikka as he had entrusted Dadlani with the additional responsibility of generating more business from the company's new software solutions.

Bengaluru-headquartered Infosys on Friday announced the appointment of Karmesh Vaswani as the global head-retail, CPG & logistics (RCL) and Nitesh Banga as the global head of manufacturing.

In a statement on LinkedIn, Dadlani said: "I have chose to pursue my personal interests elsewhere". Next up: An out-of-the world assignment! "I am confident that our RCL and Manufacturing businesses will thrive under their leadership", said Infosys CEO Vishal Sikka in a statement. "Stay tuned", Dadlani's LinkedIn note read. "We wish him the best in the journey ahead", Mr. Sikka added.

Dadlani had joined Infosys in January 2001, and was the top contender in 2015 when the company was looking for a new chief executive officer. The board however, for the first time in its history, went on to hire an executive from outside Infosys as the CEO in the form of Sikka who joined from SAP SE. Inderpreet, who holds LLB degree from Delhi University and an LLM from Queen's University, Canada, worked as Managing Partner of a midsized law firm in Silicon Valley and has also worked with ITC Limited as in-house counsel before joining Wipro as General Counsel in October 2011.

Vaswani and Banga have held strategic portfolios across Infosys for almost a decade.

Manufacturing, Retail, CPG and Logistics (MRCL) and also the head of its America business, is leaving the company, according to a company statement. This change will be effective from July 3 as the former has chose to move out of the IT company and pursue other opportunities. Kennedy was the second Infosys executive after former CFO Rajiv Bansal to be paid a severance package.
