Intel's New Core X CPU Comes With 18 Cores

Intel core i9 - At Computex a year ago, Intel unveiled its first 10-core consumer CPU, the company's move into the world of a "mega-tasking".

Intel also said today that it will release 8th-Generation "Coffee Lake" Core microprocessors in the second half of 2017, offering yet another iterative technological over previous-generation chips.

Gregory Bryant, Intel corporate vice president and general manager of the client computing group, called the new Core X-series processor family "Intel's most scalable, accessible and powerful desktop platform ever".

Intel has officially confirmed rumours of new flagship, enthusiast-targeted processors, the Core i9 X-series, with up to 18 cores and 36 threads on the new X299 chipset.

Huntington National Bank Has Lowered Bristol (BMY) Holding as Shares Declined
State of Alaska Department of Revenue boosted its position in shares of Bristol-Myers Squibb by 2.8% in the first quarter. It dived, as 86 investors sold BMY shares while 529 reduced holdings. 126 funds opened positions while 468 raised stakes.

The new line of Intel Core X processors is created to meet the needs of users who want to run the most computationally intensive applications on their desktops, such as 3D modeling, VR editing, video game live-streaming, and special effects design. The chipmaker is also debuting a slew of Core i9 Extreme Edition desktop chips, including 10, 12, 14 and 16-core variants.

All of the chips feature base clock speeds of 3.3GHz - up to 4.3GHz dual-core speeds with Turbo Boost 2.0, and 4.5GHz with Turbo Boost 3.0. They also offer higher clock speeds than the mainstream versions have. Intel will have more announcements at Computex 2017 including shared details of the Intel Compute Card, VR innovations, new devices with Intel processors, and some information regarding the 8 generation Intel Core processors. This kind of monster performance doesn't come cheap, though, as the top-of-the-line Core i9 Extreme is priced at $1,999. At the bottom of the pack, the 4 core/4 thread Core i5-7640X will cost $242 while the 4 core/8 thread Core i7-7740X will be at $339.

The Intel Core i9-7820X will feature 8 CPU cores and will support 16 threads, while the Intel Core i9-7900X will feature 10 CPU cores and will support 20 threads.

Starting from the base model, the Intel Core i5-7640X comes with 4 cores and 4 threads. Intel hasn't announced shipping dates yet. The new CPUs will include Core i5, Core i7, and new Core i9 processors that are meant for the power hungriest. These will become available in the second half of this year, as successors to the now selling 7th generation Core SKUs.
