IOS 11 brings NFC smarts to more apps

While iOS 11 is the newest operating system by Apple which will be released on all compatible older devices, the OS will work and run the flawless way when paired with the latest hardware introduced in the newly launched iPad Pro.

NFC, or Near Field Communications, is the tech used to make payments on your phone via Apple Pay and to check in using virtual boarding passes at the airport.

The iOS 11 beta and its features are tempting but many of you are better off keeping your iPhone or iPad on an official version of iOS.

- Siri can offer word suggestions on the iOS keyboard based on your recent activity on your iOS mobile device.

Up until now, Apple had deliberately opted to ignore offering playback support for FLAC files in both iTunes and iOS - though there are numerous third-party apps to do the trick.

- A refresh to Control Center, including a single page with all the features and options.

- Apple Maps now has detailed mall and major airport floor plans with directories and search.

If you find something, make sure you report it to Apple. With that in mind, the new tools in iOS 11 will allow it to automatically delete apps that you never use. The new 10.5-inch iPad Pro starts at $32.49 a month for 24 months; 0% April, on Verizon device payment ($679.99 with a 2-yr contract, $779.99 full retail).

If you don't mind taking some risks and also taking advantage of holes in the Apple developer portal, read on.

App developers wouldn't release a new version very often anyway as App Store approval would usually take a week.

You can drag and drop text, photos, and files from one app to another.

Other hardware announced included a new iMac Pro that will be released in December, and substantial updates to the iPad, laptop and desktop ranges.

- iOS 11 will be available to download and install in the Fall of 2017.
