Katrina: American Crime Story Delayed to End of 2018

But since "Katrina" is experiencing delays in terms of logistics, the team ultimately made a decision to film and release "Versace" first. Both seasons follow last year's The People v. O.J. Simpson, an early breakout widely lauded for its evocative storytelling, affecting performances, and high caliber cast.

Ryan Murphy launched the anthology series previous year on FX with The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story to universal critical acclaim and a boatload of Emmys, and FX quickly ordered not one but two new seasons.

Versace is now slated to bow in early 2018, while Katrina will begin production around then as well.

However, in case of "Katrina" it is unclear whether all big-name actors who had been locked, including Annette Bening, Dennis Quaid and Matthew Broderick, will still be available to do the series on the new timetable.

Versace, meanwhile, has been moving full steam ahead. Katrina, which was previously announced as the next season, has been pushed, with Versace now set to air as the show's second season.

Ryan Murphy, Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson, Brad Falchuk and Tom Rob Smith are executive producers of The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story. The 10-episode season, centering on the murder of Gianni Versace by serial killer Andrew Cunanan, stars Darren Criss (Cunanan), Edgar Ramirez (Versace), Penelope Cruz (Donatella Versace) and Ricky Martin (Antonio D'Amico).

What this move means is that The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story is now going to be season 2, which makes sense given that it is currently filming. Another future season, which will explore the Monica Lewinsky scandal, is undated.
