Lawyer claims Trump not included in Russian Federation probe

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein soon named Robert Mueller to take over the Russian Federation investigation and reportedly is now looking into whether Trump tried to obstruct justice for pressuring investigators.

Sekulow said he respects the attorney-client privilege, unlike former FBI Director James Comey.

The attorney explained that the tweet the president sent in which he said he was under investigation was in response to a Washington Times story that said he was.

President Donald Trump's personal lawyer said on Sunday that Trump is not under investigation in the probe into alleged Russian meddling in the 2016 USA presidential race, a statement that appeared to contradict a comment Trump himself made on Twitter last week.

"Does he believe the president, who says there's no wrongdoing here, or does he go after the president in the way James Comey wants him to do?"

"I can not read the mind of the special prosecutor", Sekulow said. Instead of firing the special counsel, which would serve as a rallying cry to the left and alienate some Republicans, Trump should wage a smart campaign to fight Mueller.

"That response on social media was in response to the Washington Post piece", Sekulow told CNN's Tapper.

US President Donald Trump and son Barron make their way to board Marine One on the South Lawn of the White House on June 17, 2017 in Washington, DC.

The committee sent a bipartisan letter this month to White House counsel Don McGahn seeking an answer by this Friday.

The notes have been referred in the media as "the Comey memos".

Committee chairman Devin Nunes, who stepped aside from the panel's Russian Federation investigation in April, has said he has seen "no credible evidence" of collusion. Schiff cited the fact that the president at one meeting "cleared the room" of advisers and asked to speak to Comey alone.

"That signifies this president knew all too well that it was inappropriate", Schiff said.

Both Coats and Rogers declined before the Senate intelligence committee earlier this month to answer questions about their conversations with Trump, but both said they had never felt urged by Trump to intervene in the Russian Federation probes. Angus King, an independent from ME, stressed that the probe will likely last for a long time.

"He's being investigated for taking the action that the attorney general and the deputy attorney general recommended him to take, by the agency that recommended he take the action". He added: "A lot of people have said, 'When do you think you'll be done?' Maybe the end of the year".

While aides have advised Trump to stay off Twitter, the president continued to weigh in Sunday as he spent the weekend at Camp David, the government-owned presidential retreat in Maryland.

"The MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN agenda is doing very well despite the distraction of the Witch Hunt", the Republican leader tweeted while away on his first weekend to Camp David, the official USA presidential retreat in the mountains of western Maryland.

Rubio spoke on NBC, CNN and CBS.
