Lucy Hale Called Herself "Fat" on Instagram and Fans Aren't Having It

Celebrations Lucy Hale celebrated her 28th birthday alongside pals Sarah Hyland and Dominic Sherwood as in Hollywood on Saturday night

Like most 20-somethings on Father's Day, Lucy Hale celebrated her dad by sharing a throwback photo of them on Instagram. "You are certainly not fat in this photo, far from it", another said.

@lucyhale WHY would you call yourself fat? "I love you daddy", yet it's what she said in the comments section that really irked her fans. Unfortunately, it is pretty easy to see how someone with body image issues could see a thin woman calling themselves "fat" and internalize that. And, judging from the fact that she removed the comment, Hale probably acknowledges that mistake.

"I know you've got the right to say that, but just imagine what it's like for your fans who are a little bit bigger or struggling with their body to hear that from their idol who's obviously never been fat", one person wrote. She can't act like she has a ideal life just because she's famous and has fans.

"Why can't people just understand that everyone has insecurities, what's the difference between someone not famous and someone famous saying that they feel fat in something?" someone wrote.

Many commenters were quick to point out these problems. "What looks normal for us, might look fat for her", one follower explained.

But comments like Hale's prove the "fat is bad" narrative is still very much a thing. You are and always have been attractive!

Body-shaming in any form is not OK, whether you're shaming someone for being over or underweight.

Instagram users continued to find a way to vent their frustration, though, adding their comments to the next photo Lucy had posted on the site just a few hours later on Sunday.
