Man United to make Morata Spain's most expensive player

Manchester United's Jose Mourinho is said to have confirmed his interest in Morata

Jose Mourinho's hunt for a flawless Manchester United No 9 is likely to be continued as the newly crowned European champions Real Madrid have reportedly rejected the multi-million dollar deal for their ace striker Alvaro Morata.

The 24-year-old is believed to be open to a move to the Premier League.

In June 2016, Real Madrid exercised a buy-back clause to bring Morata back from Juventus for £26.2m, and the forward has emerged as a key member of Zinedine Zidane's squad.

Morata wants his future resolved within the next two weeks while Jose Mourinho wants executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward to try and wrap-up transfer business quickly.

The Telegraph are alleging that the Spanish worldwide has agreed terms on a move to Old Trafford, with only the fee with Real Madrid to be determined between the two clubs.

Morata's agent Juanma Lopez said Morata needs to play more regularly after only starting 14 matches for Real last season in the league.

Manchester United have already made one bid for the attacking midfielder, said to be in the region of £52 million, but their offer was rebuffed by Madrid.

At 6 " 1 Morata is more than capable of providing a physical presence up front and is exactly the kind of player Mourinho has built his sides around in the past.

"Who knows, maybe we'll be team-mates next year", he told Tele 5.

"I can say that this is a very important proposal and now the decision is Real".

"Yes, there was frequent contact with us until a few days ago - I can confirm that", added Morata's representative. Morata has been linked with a host of big clubs with Manchester United, Chelsea and AC Milan leading the chase.

Despite his limited opportunities, Morata continued to score regularly when given a chance, netting 15 league goals last season.
