NFL Quarterback Colin Kaepernick Links Modern Police Officers To Fugitive Slave Patrols

Protesters march down Hennepin Avenue following an event for Solidarity

Free-agent National Football League quarterback Colin Kaepernick posted a picture on social media this week comparing modern police officers to fugitive slave patrols. "You can't ignore your history, always remember who they are", the picture warns.

Yanez thought Castile fit the description of a robbery suspect and was reaching for a gun.

He was responding to the news on Friday that Officer Jeronimo Yanez was not guilty of murdering 32-year-old Philando Castile at traffic stop in a St Paul suburb last year.

"None of this would have happened but for Philando Castile", defense attorney Earl Gray said.

Kaepernick captioned his tweet: 'The quarterback captioned the image: 'A system that perpetually condones the killing of people, without outcome, doesn't need to be revised, it needs to be dismantled!'

Castile's death garnered widespread attention after his girlfriend broadcast the shooting's aftermath on Facebook live.

Kaepernick tweeted his support for Castile's family, noting "My heart aches for Philando's family".

The march came just a day after protesters shutdown Interstate 94 in response to the verdict.

"You call yourself a good cop, but you see one of your colleagues beating somebody", she said.

"As I'm standing here in this parking lot holding this sign that says Minnesota shame".
