Pakistan are champions; crush India by 180 runs

Virat Kohli has been in stellar form in this tournament
but he will face a potent pace line-up led by Mohammad Amir

Revelation and redemption helped Pakistan turn world cricket's order upside down as Fakhar Zaman's maiden one-day worldwide century and Mohammad Amir's brilliant new-ball spell underpinned a landslide 180-run win over India in the Champions
Trophy final. But it were India who capitalised on majority. As Virender Sehwag and others were confident of their team's win even before the match and were already tweeting about it being Father's day and that Pakistan being the son will give their father a gift.

He ran out his fellow opener Azhar Ali while he was ball-watching after they'd made a record 128 but he shrugged that off too to earn his maiden century for Pakistan, in only his fourth one-day global, 11 days after his debut.

Mohammad Amir then reduced India to 33 for three by dismissing its much-vaunted top three, with Rohit Sharma out for a duck and opposing skipper Virat Kohli, the world's top-ranked ODI batsman, falling for just five.

India, looking to retain the Champions Trophy, went down without a fight as they collapsed to 158 all out and Amir felt his spell was crucial.

"Reaching the final you obviously have to have a good tournament which the boys have pulled off".

The former captain told Sky Sports 2: "It's a great, great team effort from where we came from because we knew after losing the first game, we were nowhere".

India lost to Pakistan in ICC Champions Trophy final by a huge margin and it has been in the news, over the internet in the past few days.

Coming into the match, four-time world champions Pakistan had conceded four and six goals in consecutive losses to the Netherlands and Canada, respectively.

The 37-year-old further said that at present, Pakistan have got a team that has the ability to develop into one of the top three teams by the time the 2019 World Cup is played in England.

"So we just had to keep believing and keep them trusting the techniques and keep them trusting their game plan and keep them trusting their roles, and that's why I'm incredibly proud of that dressing room because they did that".

Jubilant fans spilled onto the streets dancing and distributing candies soon after Hasan Ali claimed the last Indian wicket in the 31st over.

Pakistan, due to security reasons, currently can't host worldwide cricket, but is now the ICC Champions Trophy holder, a feat that has far-reaching implications.

"They had to earn their win, credit to them they outplayed us today in all departments". Some teams start very confidently and then they fade off.

On Zaman, he said: "He's a great impact player, in his first ICC event, he played like a champion, he can be a great player for Pakistan. We played like we had nothing to lose, now we are champions", said Sarfraz.
