Russia Investigation Now Includes Jared Kushner

Donald Trump resorted to Twitter to slam a report that special counsel Robert Mueller is investigating the President for possible obstruction of justice.

Comey also said his friend, Columbia University professor Daniel Richman, returned his copy to the Federal Bureau of Investigation after leaking the memo on the former Federal Bureau of Investigation director's behalf to The New York Times.

In a tweet, the president also seemed to accuse the U.S. deputy attorney general of pursuing a "Witch Hunt".

Rosenstein isn't investigating the President, but he did appoint Special Counsel Robert Mueller to look into Russia's role in the 2016 presidential election, which includes investigating alleged collusion between Trump campaign officials and the Kremlin.

The president also called out the "Fake News Media" and boasted of his "very powerful "social media numbers, in his Friday morning tweets".

Mr Trump also tweeted on Friday morning: "After 7 months of investigations & committee hearings about my 'collusion with the Russians, ' nobody has been able to show any proof".

A spokesman for Trump's private attorney declined to respond to details of the widening probe Wednesday, instead slamming the leaked information as "outrageous, inexcusable and illegal".

The president complained the probe is unfair and wondered why his defeated Democratic opponent wasn't getting the same scrutiny.

One memo recounts a February request from Trump, during a private meeting in the Oval Office, that Comey end an investigation into former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn.

Special counsel Mueller is following two major lines of investigation, a source told Reuters.

The Trump tweets come after the top lawyer for his transition team warned organization officials to preserve all records and other materials related to the Russian Federation probe. Trump tweeted. "Witch Hunt".

Mr Trump was strongly critical of some of Mr Comey's testimony but said Mr Comey had vindicated him by saying while he was at the agency, Mr Trump was not the subject of the FBI's Russian Federation probe.

- The Russia probe clearly is still on President Donald Trump's mind.

Mr. Mueller has reportedly already scheduled interviews with several senior intelligence officials.

The latest media reports say the obstruction of justice investigation began just days after Mr Trump fired Mr Comey on 9 May.

ABC News reported that Mr Rosenstein has told colleagues privately that he may have to step aside from the investigation.
