Sebastian Telfair arrested on guns, ammo, marijuana charges in Brooklyn

Former NBA journeyman Sebastian Telfair was arrested in Brooklyn Sunday morning and charged with possession of a terrifying arsenal of weapons, ammunition, and bulletproof vests, according to an NBC New York report.

New York Police arrested Telfair and 18-year-old Jami Thomas when officers found four loaded weapons - one of them a semiautomatic rifle - ammunition and a bullet-resistant vest.

The pair had been driving in a Ford F-150 pickup truck without the headlights on, prompting officers to stop them, sources said. As the officers approached the vehicle, they smelled marijuana and the auto began to drive away.

And gun possession reportedly isn't the only charge Telfair is facing.

Sebastian Telfair, 32, of Orlando, Florida, was pulled over by police at Classon and Atlantic avenues - on the cusp of Clinton Hill, Bedford-Stuyvesant and Crown Heights, Brooklyn, around 2:50 a.m. Sunday, police said.

Telfair and Thomas are expected to be arraigned in a NY court either late Sunday or Monday.

Telfair was to be arraigned tonight (June 11) in Brooklyn. He was one of the top players in the prep class of 2004 and skipped college to join the Portland Trail Blazers as the No. 13 pick in the draft. He was arrested in 2007 after police found a loaded handgun in his vehicle during a speeding stop. The remainder of his National Basketball Association career would feature two years in Minnesota, one split between the Los Angeles Clippers and Cleveland Cavaliers, one more with Minnesota, two with the Phoenix Suns, one half year with the Toronto Raptors, and his final with the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2014-15.
