Several injuries reported in London's Finsbury Park after van hits pedestrians

On June 3, a van drove into a crowd of people walking on the London Bridge, followed by knife attacks that killed eight and wounded many others.Police killed three Muslim extremists who carried out the attack.

One person died at the scene, with eight more people taken to hospital with injuries after the incident near the Finsbury Park Mosque on Seven Sisters Road.

Police in London were investigating what they called a "major incident" tonight after reports of a vehicle colliding with pedestrians. Police said earlier that one person was arrested. Many police cars and ambulances were responding.

"We continue to work closely with other members of the emergency services at the scene".

The crash occurred at a time when the multiethnic neighborhood was crowded with Muslims leaving the Finsbury Park mosque after Ramadan prayers.

"The British Muslim community requires all decent people to stand with us against this evil violence", he said, adding that "rampant Islamophobia has been on the rise for a number of years". A number of police and ambulances were in attendance.

Another said the attacker shouted about killing Muslims as he was held by local people.

Traffic was shut down on a section of Seven Sisters Road, where the incident happened.

Theresa May confirmed that the police were treating it as a potential terrorist attack and said she will chair an emergency response meeting on Monday.

"We have sent a number of resources to an incident in Seven Sisters Road".

Police arrested the van's driver, but were trying to determine whether the collision was accidental or deliberate. In May, the city of Manchester was targeted with a suicide bombing at a pop concert that killed 22 people.

Initial reports indicate that up to 10 people were struck by a van outside of a mosque, with three reportedly dead.

Mohammed Kozbar said the Muslim community is "in shock".

Witnesses at the scene have described the incident as "horrible" and "hell".
