Smarter Siri, More Updates Arriving with iOS 11

However, if your auto doesn't support USB or Bluetooth, don't fret: Apple said iPhones will be tracked via a satellite while the mode is on that will determine whether the user is driving or not. It also announced new versions of the iMac desktop computer, the iPad Pro tablet and a voice-activated and AI-driven speaker. So what is new in iOS 11?

The next mobile operating system from Apple, iOS 11, will give iPad users extensive software updates and long-awaited features, such as a file management tool and customizable app dock.

There are plenty of reasons to try the iOS 11 beta on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

This update is expected to release for iPhones ands iPads that support iOS 11 sometime within this fall, so prepare to free up that brain space for some other sequence of numbers and letters. A developer preview of the new operating system is now available, and a public beta for iOS users is set for release later this month.

As explained by 9to5Mac, iOS 11 will come with a Wi-Fi-network-sharing feature. When the iPhone is brought closer to the connected iPad (without even touching it), a prompt will indicate on the iPad that an iPhone wants to connect to the WiFi network.

"By blending digital objects and information with the environment around you, ARKit takes apps beyond the screen, freeing them to interact with the real world in entirely new ways", according to Apple.

The feature works as seamlessly as connecting a pair of AirPods to a device.

The iPhone screen will be locked to prevent drivers from using other apps while behind the wheel.

Apple provided insight into how its software products have performed in numbers, such as: users take one trillion photos per year in its Camera app, there are now 27 million paid Apple Music subscribers, 500 million users visit the App Store weekly, there have been 180 billion app downloads to date, and developers have made $70 billion through the App Store.

Reports suggest that Apple will incorporate a feature in iOS 11 which will allow iPhone users to exchange password simply by approving a nearby phone and sending them the password.

Passengers who are just riding in the vehicle will also be able to disable the safety feature.
