Sony's 'Venom' Will Be in the Same Universe as 'Spider-Man: Homecoming'

SpiderMan

Despite denying it previously, Pascal recently admitted that Tom Hardy's Venom and Silver Sable And Black Cat will be connected to Spider-Man: Homecoming's world.

However, in a recent interview with Filmstarts, Spider-Man: Homecoming and Venom producer, Amy Pascal (who was sitting beside Kevin Feige during the interview) claimed otherwise.

Also, it's very possible that Sony just doesn't know exactly what they're doing yet.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe seems like a tightly controlled machine, with every part working in accordance with every other part, but that is absolutely not the case when you factor in anything that is tangentially connected to the MCU, like the Netflix shows or the new Spider-Man universe that Sony is launching with Homecoming. The companies teamed up for a groundbreaking deal to share Spider-Man on the big screen, but fans still feel shaky about how long the MCU will have the hero.

Homecoming director Jon Watts has somewhat addressed these concerns over Skype at Australia's Supernova Comic-Con, saying: "I don't think she [Amy Pascal] meant that in an apocalyptic way". Recently, Amy Pascal, CEO of Sony Pictures made a few controversial remarks about Spider-Man's future in the MCU, but Watts cleared it up easily. "I think that is what she was trying to say as opposed to putting a ticking clock [on Spider-Man]".

As of now, the logical way to go is to continue the partnership between Sony and Marvel.

So far, it looks like Sony will benefit from Spider-Man's placement in the MCU.

Virtual reality (VR) is fast becoming the new battleground in the gaming world with developers seeking to win over fans with immersive headsets and accessories.

Regardless of what the future lies for Holland's Spider-Man, fans can take pleasure in the fact that his first standalone film is rolling out in less than four weeks.
