Three Palestinians killed after attacking Israeli officers

Following the attack, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu chose to cancel permission for Palestinians to visit family members in Jerusalem and Israel, officer said.

Following the attack, the Israeli army raided Deir Abu Mashal, the village near Ramallah the three perpetrators hailed from, sealing off its entrances and mapping out the homes of the three for demolition.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed condolences on behalf of the government and the nation to the Malka family on Sunday morning at the start of the weekly Cabinet meeting.

At one location, police said two men used a firearm and knives to attack a group of Israeli police officers, while at the other site, a man went on a stabbing spree and fatally wounded a border policewoman.

But Hamas, the Palestinian Islamist group that runs the Gaza Strip, dismissed the claim, saying the attackers had come from among its own ranks and the leftist Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP).

The trio were all shot dead at the scene.

The Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR) strongly condemned these measures and stressed they fall within the collective punishment policy which is prohibited in the worldwide human rights law.

The three attackers were identified as as Bara Ibrahim Muhammad Saleh, 19, Adel Hassan Ahmad Anakush, 18, and Osama Ahmad Mustafa Atta, 19.

The occupied Palestinian territories have seen tensions ever since Israel introduced restrictions on the entry of Palestinian worshipers into the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in East Jerusalem al-Quds in August 2015.

"Let the Jews expect the demise of their entity at the hands of the Caliphate soldiers", it said, calling the attack "revenge for God's religion and for the violated sanctities of Muslims". "The payments made by the Palestinian Authority to terrorists and their families encourage heinous attacks like we saw today", Israel's ambassador to the U.N. Danny Danon said.

The Israeli army said the assailants appeared have acted independently, like numerous attackers in a wave of unrest that has rocked Israel and the occupied territories since October 2015. In that period, some 250 Palestinians were killed by Israeli fire.

Mahmoud Abbas, head of the Palestinian Authority, put out a statement condemning Israel for killing three teenage Palestinians who killed Israeli police officer Hadas Malka and injured four others.

In late 2015 and 2016, such attacks happened with near-daily frequency but the rate has declined in recent months.

It claims the entire city as its indivisible capital but the Palestinians claim its eastern sector as the capital of their promised state.

Israel has now cancelled permits allowing Palestinians from the West Bank to visit family members inside Israel, although permits to visit Jerusalem for prayers during Ramadan are still in place.

Palestinians say it stems from anger over decades of Israeli rule in territory they claim for their state.
